The Xcel Ten Mile Creek Solar Map is Now Public

On June 4, 2025 Xcel Energy released a map of the proposed Ten Mile Creek solar project leased acres in Town of Erin Prairie and Town of Hammond. This is only phase 1 of the project. They would start with 300 megawatts of solar generated energy but in phase 2 would scale up to 650 megawatts. The released map also shows where the substation will be located and a possible battery energy storage system.

Looking at the map below shaded in yellow is the land where the solar panels will be located. The proposed substation would be located near County Rd E and 170th Street. Not far from the substation is the possible battery energy storage system.

According to Xcel they will apply for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for the Ten Mile Creek 300 megawatt project and 15 mile transmission line in late 2025.
