Welcome to the website, we are so glad you are here. Save Our Heartland started as a grassroots effort from neighbors coming together. We are dedicated to preserving our farmland and our rural way of life.
Our mission is to preserve farmland, create a strong sense of community, and foster a healthier environment for the people in St. Croix County, WI and future generations. We do this by educating residents about more sustainable farming practices and land use, community engagement, and fighting against corporate takeover of our lands.
One of our biggest threats to our mission is the proposed Xcel Ten Mile Creek Solar project. The proposed project site is on prime farmland in rural St. Croix County. There are so many complex parts and topics related to industrial solar. We have spent countless hours of searching for answers and wanting to understand how it all works. Our hope is that this website will help educate the public, and ourselves, about what is happening in St. Croix County regarding this industrial sized solar complex. We are ordinary people who care deeply about the land, the fabric of our culture, and the legacy that will be left behind for the next generation.
